The Texas Advanced Energy Business Alliance has appointed Suzanne Bertin as executive director, a newly created position.
The alliance represents companies in Texas, including some national industry players, involved in the so-called advanced energy sector. That includes everything from cleantech, solar power and biofuels to energy management and smart grids.
“Texas has enviable resources and the opportunity to expand and diversify our energy market, creating jobs and economic growth, while improving reliability and resiliency of our energy infrastructure,” Bertin said in a statement. “TAEBA is made up of great companies that can make this happen.”
Prior to joining the alliance, Bertin, who is a Texas native and longtime Austin resident, handled regulatory and government affairs in Texas and the Southeast for EnerNOC, a cloud-based energy intelligence software and services company. She worked previously for more than 10 years at NRG Energy Inc. (NYSE: NRG), which has dual headquarters in Houston and New Jersey, where she worked on wholesale and retail electricity legislative and regulatory issues.
According to an analysis by Navigant Research published last year, Texas’ advanced energy revenue reached $16 billion in 2014, representing 8 percent of the total U.S. market for advanced energy technologies and products.
