Shell, Ryder Ink Deal For 15 LNG Trucks
News Article by Shell
Commercial trucking fleet manager Ryder System Inc. and Shell Oil Co. have signed an agreement that will place 15 liquefied natural gas trucks into the fleet supporting oil and gas operations in Lafayette and Houston.
The new LNG-fueled vehicles will replace Ryder diesel-powered vehicles. The LNG trucks will be serviced out of Ryder’s Lafayette facility. Ryder has a five-year fuel agreement with Shell, which will provide LNG for the dedicated natural gas fleet.
Shell’s port and cross-state routes are ideally suited for natural gas vehicles, according to Ryder. The company worked with Shell to develop a customized truck that will meet the energy company’s shipping needs.
“LNG can be a good choice for truck owners, and more are making the switch to LNG,” he said.
